Google Photos may be seen by many as just an organization and storage app. And, in order not to lose out to the customization features of social networks, such as Instagram, it has some tools that allow you to bring a certain dynamic to the app’s interface. This is the case of memories, which generate collections of records based on data and algorithms.

The app’s support page has been updated to include guidance for a feature you will use User activity data to reveal more relevant memories. Mainly, old memory visualization activities will be used (or even if suggestions are ignored) to offer a more personalized experience.

The company will use the data collected in the last 18 months to implement this initiative and it will be automatically enabled for users by default. The account is free to prohibit this collection in Settings > Personalization activity-based.

Another element to ensure data security is to hide faces, pets, and specific people from memories. You can also adjust settings to be time-based or themed.
