In recent years, the amount of information we receive via email has grown exponentially. Between receipts, reservations, travel confirmations and invoices, you often find yourself in need search for important details among hundreds of messagesthe. Google Gmail recognized this need and decided to update one of its key features: the summary sheets.
A new look for summary cards in Google Gmail
The summary sheets (Summary Cards) are nothing new to Gmail usersbut their design and functionality do, at least with this new update launched by Big G.
These cards, present in emails relating to purchases, events, invoices and trips, they now offer new possibilities for interaction. For example, you can now:
- add an event to your calendar directly from the card;
- invite other people;
- set a reminder to pay an invoice.
But it’s not just the aesthetics that have changed: the new cards they are now smarterand are also able to collect information from all related emails and to update in real time. This way, you will no longer have to search through a thousand messages to find out when a package arrives or when a bill is due.
Google Gmail, the main summary cards
The new summary sheets they will be visible in four main email categories: purchases, events, invoices and travel.
Acquisitions
Shopping cards will allow you to track packages and view order details. This feature is particularly useful when you are expecting multiple deliveries: you will be able to see at a glance the status of each shipment and know exactly when the birthday gift you ordered will arrive.
Events
Forgetting about a dinner reservation or a concert ticket it will be a problem of the past. With the new event tabs, you can directly add appointments to the calendarinvite friends or find directions to the event location. And all with just a few clicks.
Invoices
With the new invoice tabs, you can view, pay or set reminders for deadlines directly from the card itself. It will also be possible to add a deadline to Google Tasks so as not to lose track of your payments.
Trips
Finally, for those who travel often, summary sheets relating to trips they will make everything easier. You’ll be able to manage reservations, check in for your flight, and view important details like your hotel check-out time. In this way, traveling will be safer and more organizedfrom booking to flight.
The “Coming Soon” section for the most urgent updates
One of the most interesting new features introduced by Gmail is the “Coming soon” sectionwhich will allow you to quickly view the most urgent updates without even having to open individual emails.
For example, when the delivery date of a package is approaching, the purchase card will automatically appear in this sectionfacilitating the tracking of shipments.
If you have multiple deliveries scheduled in the same period, the cards will be stackedallowing you to expand them, ignore them, or access linked emails directly.
