- The Gemini voice assistant app is now available for iPhones
- It offers the same features as on Android, including image generation
- The basic version of Gemini is available in Czech and Slovak
Google decided to take a rather revolutionary step and launched an application with the Gemini chatbot for iPhones with iOS 16 and later. The application is free and supports 35 world languages, including Czech and Slovak. But this is definitely not the first time that Gemini has looked at a competing platform.
Google Gemini on iPhone
Artificial intelligence on the iPhone is quite a hot topic. Although Apple directly has its own AI suite, it is called Apple Intelligence, but it is not available for users in the European Union (EU). Conversely, Google’s AI tool Gemini works normally in the EU, both on Android phones and iPhones.
As of Thursday, the Gemini app is available directly in the App Store on iOS. The application offers full access to the Gemini chat tool – you can ask it questions, reverse search for content from photos through it, have songs recognized or generate an image based on a given command.
As you know, Gemini works in 35 world languages, including Czech and Slovak. If you subscribe to the Google One AI Premium service, you also have access to the extended Gemini Advanced model, within which you can also use the Gemini Live voice model. However, it is only available in 10 world languages, such as English, German, Spanish, Portuguese and others.
This is not the first presence of artificial intelligence from Google on the iPhone. Since February, Gemini on iOS has been available to logged-in users through the Google app, just switch from search to AI assistant at the top.
The Google Gemini app is available for free on the App Store and is currently only available for iPhones, not iPads. The only download requirement is iOS 16 or later, the user must of course have a Google account.

Ah, gather ‘round, ladies and gentlemen, and let’s dive into the wonderful world of… drumroll, please! The Gemini voice assistant app now strutting its stuff on iPhones! Yes, folks, Google’s digital companion has decided that it wouldn’t be caught dead just hanging out with Android users anymore. “Why not share the love?” it whispered to itself in a sultry, synthetic voice.
### Google’s Bold Move: Gemini Invades iPhone Territory
So, let’s get into the details. Google has finally released the Gemini voice assistant app for iPhones! And I’m not just talking about any old iPhone. This beauty only plays nice with iOS 16 and above. Don’t worry if you’re still using an iPhone 8, though—this isn’t an AI horror movie where your phone’s voice assistant comes to life and haunts you for your poor upgrade choices. But can we take a moment to appreciate that the app supports 35 languages? C’mon, that’s more languages than most of us can count to in a pub quiz.
### Features Galore—including Image Generation
Now, you might think, “What’s special about another voice assistant?” Well, for starters, this app doesn’t skimp on features. You can chat to it like you would your least interesting friend at a party—except Gemini actually has something clever to say! You can reverse-search images, identify songs, and even create images on command. Who needs a date when you can express your deepest emotions through pixelated art?
And here’s a cheeky tidbit: if you’re willing to fork out for the Google One AI Premium service, you get access to expanded features, like the Gemini Live voice model. Just ten languages, mind you. So if you wanted to discuss existential philosophy in Zulu, you’re out of luck. (Why is it always existentialism, anyway? Can’t we just talk about sandwiches?)
### Europe, You’re in for a Treat!
Ah, the ever-so-complicated European Union. On one hand, you have Apple with its “Apple Intelligence” – ironically not available to EU users. Then you have Google, gallantly rolling out Gemini across the continent like a knight in shining armor—but with fewer horses and more algorithms.
For those of you wondering, you’ll need a Google account to set this puppy up. So, if your account was banned after that one questionable search you made back in 2015, now’s your chance to make amends. Just remember, the AI has a memory sharper than a sushi chef’s knife.
### Available Now—But Not for Everyone
Now, before you get too excited, let’s have a reality check. This app is currently only available for iPhones. Sorry, iPad users. It seems Google’s plan is to leave you in the digital dust for now. So unless you’re keen to play solitaire on one tiny screen while making phone calls on another, you may want to start contemplating that iPhone upgrade.
### In Summary…
To wrap it all up in a bow tighter than a cat in a cardboard box, Google’s Gemini app ushering its way onto iPhones is a fascinating development in the world of voice assistants. It’s offering a wealth of features while also setting the stage for a rivalry that could make the Olympic Games look like a friendly backyard barbecue. It’s bold, cheeky, and very much here to stay. Now let’s just hope it doesn’t ask us to “take a selfie” every five minutes, or else that might be the last free time we get back… unless, of course, it turns into a Picasso.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is your cheeky slice of tech news for today! Now go out there and ask your new digital BFF the burning questions of life. But remember: while it may know the answer to “What’s the meaning of life?”, it will not know when to switch off for a good night’s sleep. Cheers!

It’s worth noting that this is not the first instance of Gemini making its way onto competitive platforms, showcasing Google’s commitment to accessibility.
Google Gemini on iPhone
The integration of artificial intelligence on iPhones has stirred considerable interest. Despite Apple’s own AI framework known as Apple Intelligence, this suite is currently unavailable to users within the European Union (EU). In stark contrast, Google’s versatile AI tool, Gemini, operates seamlessly across the EU on both Android devices and iPhones, providing users with robust options.
Starting Thursday, the Gemini app can be downloaded directly from the App Store for iOS users. The application provides full functionality of the Gemini chat tool, allowing users not only to pose questions but also to perform reverse image searches, identify songs, and even generate images based on textual descriptions. This represents a significant advancement in user interaction with AI on mobile devices.
Gemini operates in 35 different languages, including Czech and Slovak, offering a global user experience. Furthermore, users who subscribe to the Google One AI Premium service gain access to the enhanced Gemini Advanced model, which includes the cutting-edge Gemini Live voice model. However, this premium feature is available in only 10 languages, including widely spoken languages such as English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
This isn’t Google’s inaugural AI venture on the iPhone; since February, a version of Gemini has been accessible to logged-in users via the Google app, simply requiring users to switch from the search interface to the AI assistant feature at the top of the app.
The Google Gemini app is currently offered for free on the App Store, specifically designed for iPhones and not available for iPads. To download, users need to have iOS 16 or a later version installed, and a Google account is required to access the functionalities of the app.

How does the launch of Gemini on iPhones reflect Google’s competitive strategy in the tech industry?
**Short Interview with Technology Expert on Google’s Gemini App Launch for iPhones**
**Interviewer (I):** Welcome, our guest today is Alex Turner, a technology analyst known for his insights into AI innovations! Alex, thanks for joining us.
**Alex Turner (A):** Thank you for having me! I’m excited to discuss Google’s latest move with the Gemini app.
**I:** Let’s start with the launch itself. Google has just released the Gemini voice assistant for iPhones. Why is this significant?
**A:** This is quite a big deal for a couple of reasons. First, it signifies Google’s intent to aggressively compete in the AI space, particularly on platforms traditionally dominated by Apple. The launch of Gemini on iOS 16 and later means that users can now enjoy advanced AI features like image generation and reverse image search that were previously exclusive to Android.
**I:** Speaking of features, what stands out the most about the Gemini app?
**A:** The versatility is impressive! Users can not only chat with Gemini but also generate images based on text prompts, identify songs, and even perform reverse image searches. This blend of capabilities really enhances user experience, making it a multifunctional digital assistant.
**I:** The app supports 35 languages, including Czech and Slovak. How does this accessibility impact users?
**A:** It broadens the user base significantly, especially in Europe, where language diversity is important. While Apple has its own AI tools, they aren’t available in the EU, so Google is capitalizing on that gap by providing accessible and feature-rich AI tools across more languages. This not only appeals to existing iPhone users but also attracts new users who may have felt left out before.
**I:** We’ve seen a trend where tech giants are entering each other’s territories. How do you view Google’s strategy with Gemini on iPhones in this context?
**A:** It’s very much a strategic move in a fierce rivalry. Google understands that artificial intelligence is becoming integral to user engagement. By making Gemini available on iPhones, they’re effectively saying, “We’re here to play, regardless of the platform.” This could fuel a competitive edge that benefits consumers through more choices.
**I:** The app is currently free, but there’s a premium subscription for advanced features. Do you think this will affect user uptake?
**A:** Absolutely. The baseline app being free makes it attractive for new users to try it out. However, the premium features, like the Gemini Live voice model, offer a compelling reason for users to subscribe if they want more advanced functionalities. This can create a sustainable revenue model for Google while enhancing user engagement.
**I:** What about the current limitations, like its availability only on iPhones for now?
**A:** Right now, focusing on iPhones allows Google to optimize the app specifically for that ecosystem. However, they will likely expand to iPads and perhaps even other devices in the future. This incremental launch could help iron out any issues before broader deployment.
**I:** Any final thoughts on the Gemini app’s launch and its implications?
**A:** It’s an exciting time for AI technology, and Google’s Gemini app is a clear indicator of where the industry is heading. As consumers, we’re witnessing a push towards more intelligent, efficient, and accessible digital experiences. This rivalry among tech giants could lead to rapid advancements in AI, benefiting everyone.
**I:** Thank you, Alex, for your valuable insights!
**A:** Thank you for having me!
