Goodbye Duster: SUV discontinued

Renault Duster lasted 12 years on the assembly line. For almost 10 years, the SUV has been assembled at a factory in the town of Sriperumbudur in southern India. Now Duster has been retired. True, we are talking only regarding the first generation of the model.

At first, Duster began to be assembled in Romania. Since 2010, he rolled off the assembly line under the Dacia brand. In 2012, the car began to be assembled in Brazil and Russia. In Brazil, the model stood on the assembly line until 2020, and in Russia until 2021. The crossover was also assembled in Colombia and Indonesia.

The Indian Duster was upgraded two years ago. In particular, 1.5 liter diesel engine was replaced by a 1.3-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 156 horsepower. In Russia, such a unit is installed on the second generation Duster. Paired with this engine is a continuously variable CVT transmission.

And here Renault Duster second generation did not reach India. But a holy place is never empty. He was replaced at the Renault India plant by the Renault Kiger SUV and the Renault Triber microvan. They are designed specifically for the local market and better meet the aspirations and needs of the people of Hindustan.

However, rumors regarding the premature death of Duster are greatly exaggerated. And one of the varieties of Duster is even still produced in Moscow called Nissan Terrano. The permit for its production is valid until December 2023. The second version of the good old SUV is the Renault Duster Oroch pickup truck. No replacement is on the horizon yet.
