Despite a numerical inferiority of an hour of play, Ostend won on the lawn of Eupen last night, 0-2.
Yves Vanderhaeghe thought that the Ostend season was going to end in blood sausage last night. After 28 short minutes of play, Duncan received his second yellow card of the game and joined the locker room much earlier than his teammates. The Côtiers were however able to take advantage of Eupen’s defensive largesse to win, 0-2. “Eupen started with more desire to win, but following the red card my group reacted well and really started playing football. In fact, we gave few opportunities and our organization was good despite this man in less. Then you have to seize your chances and Ambrose did that perfectly, in a beautiful way. And that 0-2 also came at a great time.”
Ostend is in 12th place in the standings, pending today’s results. A disappointing season, and relatively stressful for all the staff. “We really gave up until last week. The fact that we might finish the season on a high note makes the two and a half hour drive fun. Yes, that means something.”
