The Cooperativa de Servicios Públicos de Almafuerte (Coopal) organized a meeting called “Good Cooperative Practices”, in which leaders and staff of more than 25 service distributors in the province of Córdoba shared an enriching space to reflect, debate and exchange ideas on the importance of the identity of the sector.

The event, which took place on July 5 at the Cine Teatro Ideal Cooperativo in that town, had the support of the Argentine Federation of Electric Cooperatives and Other Public Services (FACE), which was represented by its president José Álvarez.

It was an opportunity to revalue our origins, to feel proud of the central role that cooperativism occupies in the progress of our country and to assume the responsibility of continuing to advance in this noble task.”, they indicated from the organizing entity.

feedback space

The educational body had a prestigious teaching team from the Graduate College of Cooperativism and Mutualism, made up of the accountant Emiliano Pon and the graduates Enzo Farante and Juan Pubill.

The proposal was aimed at reflecting on the importance of cooperative identity, identifying good practices in relation to members and the community, and recognizing the social balance as a potential strategic management tool.

In addition, emphasis was placed on the importance of maintaining the concepts and values that gave rise to and guide cooperative work: mutual aid, responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, solidarity, honesty, transparency, and concern for others.

Social responsability

The Almafuerte workshop highlighted the ability of cooperatives to listen, understand and satisfy the genuine expectations of the environment. This qualitative advantage is due to its solidarity nature and is verifiable through the implementation of a specific tool: the social balance.

Corporate social responsibility can be defined as those initiatives that go beyond the legal obligations of an economic organization, with the aim of positively influencing society and instilling respect for ethical values, people, the community and the environment in which they develop. Your activities.

In the companies of the social economy, this concept is revealed in an inherent way to their identity and their operating dynamics, because they are entities affirmed in principles that are established and prosper on ideologies inseparably linked to a socially responsible management.

If we look at the cooperatives that provide public services in the interior of the province, it can be appreciated that, due to having been established by the same communities that host them, the practice of actions linked to an improvement of the human environment, the conduct of their leaders, ethical guidelines in the exercise of the activity and the transparency of its values constitute the cooperative genome. In other words, they are by and in themselves socially responsible.
