In Burkina Faso, despite the significant difficulties the country is experiencing, the henhouse, which has become a farm, is doing well. One hectare of land was fenced, the area was irrigated, two hundred tangelo plants were planted, as well as market gardening vegetables in the gaps between the tree lines, which will soon provide them with shade…
The women of the village will thus be able to sell not only eggs, but also vegetables and in a few years (the tangelo grows very quickly) citrus fruits; always under the same conditions: the Association sells them the products at a price a little lower than the market price, so that they can make a small profit, of one to two euros per day, which is enough for them to make live their family.
In France, numerous events have been organized by and for Les oeufs d’Elvire since the end of the summer:
– on September 17, the Association had a stand at the garage sale from Place Saint-Sulpice, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris; many friends of Elvire’s eggs had offered us objects of all kinds: paintings, trinkets, crockery, glassware, books, old games and toys, decorative objects, which made the bargain hunters happy. The sale went well under a warm late summer sun.
– We received so many different items as gifts for this garage sale that, despite its success, not everything was sold. We therefore decided to organize a “Ali Baba’s Cave” at our home in mid-November. Here again, there was a good turnout and numerous sales, also jewelry made from natural stones from Caroline de la Tullaye.
– Les eggs d’Elvire, an association headquartered in Paris 6th, was honored with a full-page presentation article in “Our 6th”, the district’s monthly newspaper in its November issue, the terms of which correspond well to the spirit of the Association. May Mr. Jean-Pierre Lecocq, Mayor of the 6th arrondissement, be warmly thanked. (Article in PJ).
– On Friday November 24, we had the pleasure of welcoming some of you to SEL, Sèvres Theaterfor the performance of the play “Les Conquérants”, proposed by Les Amitiés France-Acadie and directed by Patrice Carpuatwhom we sincerely thank.
The spectators greatly appreciated both the interesting text, which introduced many of them to this page of French history on the other side of the Atlantic, as well as the acting, the decor and the setting. on stage. The SEL, with its bar which allowed you to have a drink and chat before and after the show, was a happy discovery for many, and we would like to thank its Director again, Clementine de Maistrefor his warm and generous welcome.
