This Thursday, March 30, 2023, the President of the National Assembly Louis Gbèhounou VLAVONOU successively received in audience at his office at the Palace of Governors in Porto-Novo, the Canadian ambassador Lee-Anne HERMANN and Meshal Ahmad ALMANSOUR ambassador of Kuwait near The Benin.
If Ambassador Lee-Anne HERMANN discussed with the President of the National Assembly, 9th Legislature, the promotion of women in the political sphere, parliamentary governance with the arrival of the opposition, the contribution of the Parliamentary Institute of Benin to the benefit of the deputy, the two personalities mainly discussed Canada’s support for the Beninese parliament through the Parliamentary Institute of Benin (IPAB)
“… C’is the first time I have met the President of the National Assembly of Benin. I must admit that this is an opportunity for me to talk regarding the new legislature with the President of the National Assembly. We also talked regarding the women who have increased to 29 in Parliament currently thanks to the reforms; of parliamentary governance with the arrival of the opposition, especially with the advantage that the President of the National Assembly was the opposition for a long time. We also talked regarding relations between Benin and Canada. In 2022, the two countries celebrated 60 years of diplomatic relations. Thus, our discussions focused on strengthening this cooperation. Finally, during this audience, I was presented with the functioning and missions of the Parliamentary Institute of Benin…”.
With Ambassador Meshal Ahmad ALMANSOUR, it was above all a question of strengthening the ties of cooperation between Kuwait and Benin and its Parliament: ” After the presentation of my letter of credence to the President of the Republic, I decided to make the rounds of the presidents of institutions. It is in this context that I was received by the President of the National Assembly. This is an opportunity for me to get to know him. I would like to thank him and the team accompanying him. These exchanges allowed us to talk regarding the strengthening of cooperation between Benin and Kuwait…”.
