Good news for Iran, the UN has finally announced the lifting of sanctions

The Secretariat of the United Nations Security Council has sent a letter to the member states of the Organization and announced the formal termination of Articles 3, 4 and 6 of Article 2231 Section B once morest Iran.

According to Iran’s official media (IRNA), following this announcement, restrictions on Iran’s missile tests, imports and exports of missiles have ended and now any country has the right to block Iran’s assets or impose restrictions on financial channels. It won’t happen.

These sanctions, under Section B of Resolution 2231, ended automatically at midnight on October 18, 2023, following having been in place for 8 years.

These sanctions have been lifted at a time when the US and Western countries have tried unsuccessfully to create a global consensus through accusations to pave the way for the continuation of said sanctions.

Conventional and light arms sanctions once morest Iran expired in October 2020.

It is worth noting that despite the announcement of the end of sanctions once morest Iran by the United Nations, Western countries tried to make this issue suspicious through media campaigns and rhetoric, but the official message issued by the United Nations They dashed their hopes.

The Islamic Republic of Iran called the announcement by the United States and Western countries to continue the aforementioned sanctions at the national level a violation of Article 25 of the United Nations Charter.

However, most observers believe that given Iran’s military ties and cooperation, the announcement by a handful of Western countries to continue sanctions once morest Tehran is merely symbolic.
