Good news for commuters going to Brussels: deterrent parking lots will be free at the start of the school year!

Subscription to one of the Park-and-Ride car parks on the outskirts of Brussels will be completely free from 5 September for drivers who use public transport, announced parking.brussels, the Brussels agency responsible for parking.

It is the new climate, air and energy plans approved last May that are behind these price reductions. Commuter motorists who use the relay car parks will no longer have to pay for these car parks. The current price is 60€ per year, plus 1.5€ per day of use. Free will also be valid for occasional users who have paid €3 per day until now.

“By making the ‘Park+Ride’ free, we want to encourage commuters and visitors to Brussels to park at the entrance to the city and use our public transport,” said Elke Van den Brandt (Groen), Brussels Minister for Mobility. “The new rates for parking bicycles will ensure that more Brussels residents and visitors choose to cycle.”

The subscription price for a place in the secure bike park will drop from €60 to €15 from 5 September. Finally, the subscription for a cargo bike will cost €30 instead of €120 per year.
