After a convincing first Pocket, DJI returns with a new version of its camera integrated into a small gimbal, this time equipped with a larger sensor (64 megapixels).
A well-thought-out evolution, the DJI Pocket 2 is a tool that is as versatile as it is attractive. Although we have some reservations regarding the processing of Jpeg files, we are overall very satisfied with this mini gimbal. Its stabilization system and autofocus tracking work admirably well and provide an enjoyable experience. Its compactness and good ergonomics make it an ideal partner for those who found that their footage taken on a smartphone was mediocre. The Pocket 2 will thus be able to slip easily into many pockets and will be able to provide good services to the most creative among us.
Points forts
Reduced size. Successful ergonomics. Complete application. Good finishes. Complete accessories ecosystem. Effective tracking and stabilization functions.
Weak points
Smoothing marked in Jpeg. Lower quality in 4K UHD 60 fps. Tracking mode unavailable in highest quality. Non-removable battery. Not waterproof.
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices charged by all merchants for the product last month, with security rules to exclude the prices of stores whose the VAT policy is not clear (so-called “gray” stores, typically in the case of imports from China).
An alternative
The Osmo Pocket shows all of DJI’s know-how. A concentrate of technology, literally and figuratively. The device is impressive. DJI not only offers good image rendering, but adds a number of well-executed features, while the camera’s flaws are contained. The Osmo Pocket thus opens video capture to a wide audience and will appeal to the less informed thanks to its easy handling and reduced measurements.
