A warm welcome
At La Fiorita in the heart of Amsterdam, on the cozy Tweede Tuindwarsstraat, we were kindly greeted by Mirron, the manager. Upon entering we felt the warm atmosphere, with an open kitchen at the end of the restaurant and a cozy bar on the left. For larger groups there was even an extra room downstairs, complete with an impressive wine cellar.

In the wine cellar, Mirron enthusiastically talked about the extensive selection of wines from different countries. We were allowed to choose a bottle of wine for the evening. We chose a red wine from Italy, the Vajra Dolcetto d’Alba ‘Coste & Fossati’. And we certainly didn’t regret it.

(Chef’s) Menu
On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays the menu offers à la carte options. On Thursday to Saturday and for groups of 6 people or more you can choose the Menu dello Chef. We started the evening with the ostriche per pezzo: fresh oysters! A perfect start, where the freshness of the sea immediately put us in the right mood accompanied by a glass of prosecco. Then we were spoiled with small starters such as the refreshing crudo di pesce with varying fish, citrus, radish, chili and jalapeño. The creamy burrata con cavolo, served with kale and almond, was a delicious surprise. We have never eaten buratta like this before, and it was delicious. The cavoletti di bruxelles, perfectly cooked Brussels sprouts with pancetta and shallot, added a savory touch.

We then enjoyed two primi dishes: the perfectly filled ravioli di ricotta e spinaci and the recommended risotto al tartufo, a creamy risotto with the rich taste of black truffle and parmesan.

Second
Our bellies were starting to get quite full, but luckily we still had some room left for the seconds. On Mirron’s recommendation, we opted for the maiale alla griglia, a mix of grilled porchetta, pork neck and pork loin with chicory. A very tasty dish! We also enjoyed the carciofi alla romana, a dish with artichoke, Jerusalem artichoke and parmesan, highly recommended!

Our dinner ended with three different dolci. The meringa con mandarino brought crispy meringue with the freshness of mandarin and a hint of honeycomb. The profiteroles were souses with salted caramel, vanilla ice cream and chocolate. And the tiramisu, a classic ending with mascarpone, espresso, amaretto and savoiardi, ended our dinner perfectly.
