The opposition presidential candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, warned this Thursday that he will be intransigent with corruption in Venezuela, a crime that he considers one of the country’s “urgent” issues, if he wins the July 28 elections, for the who appears as a favorite, according to most polls.
«We will be intransigent with any form of corruption. Venezuela deserves a decent government, as do most Venezuelans«said the former ambassador, standard bearer of the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD).
In a video he shared on Instagram, he explained his plan to implement “strict accountability and audit mechanisms in all State institutions“, after 25 years of Chavista governments in which, he denounced, “everything has been stolen.”
«Corruption not only steals our resources, (it also) steals our hope and our future. I am committed to working for you with transparency and honesty.«continued the 74-year-old diplomat.
He assured that his public and private life are his “best letter of introduction” to talk about this issue, as well as to commit to “combat this scourge that has done so much damage” to the country.
