The standard-bearer of the largest anti-Chavez coalition, Edmundo González Urrutia, praised this Saturday that Venezuela is “united” fighting for “democracy” and “freedom” inside and outside the country, in reference to the worldwide demonstrations in defense of what he considers his victory in the presidential elections, despite the announcement by the electoral body that declared President Nicolás Maduro the winner.

In a video on X, González Urrutia said that the opposition demonstrations, which took place today in various parts of Venezuela and in more than 300 cities around the world, according to anti-Chavez supporters, are “the force” that “will enforce” the decision to change “in peace” for which “millions” of Venezuelans voted in the elections.

He also criticized the fact that the Maduro government, instead of “democratically preparing for a peaceful transition,” has decided to “persecut, arrest and assassinate” Venezuelans who “have only demanded that their majority will be respected.”

In this regard, he stated that it is “time for an orderly transition,” while expressing that he is “committed” to making this happen.
