González raises the reform of the Faculty of Medicine

The candidate for the Rectorship of the University of Valladolid (UVa) José Ramón González has promised this Monday, in case of being the next rector, to urgently address the regeneration and renewal of the institution’s teaching staff in the face of the imminent problems that degrees such as Medicine may already have from next year due to the aging of the workforce and the lack of relief.

González visited the Faculty of Medicine this morning, where he held a meeting with representatives of the university community, with whom he has made a commitment to act as soon as possible to solve the problem caused by the aging of his staff.

In his opinion, it is essential to seek solutions imminently and start working on it, since in the next year 2023 serious problems will arise due to the lack of integrated teachers. This bet, he explained, is part of one of the pillars of his electoral proposal, which advocates ensuring that the generational replacement is carried out, within the UVa, in a natural way so that youth and experience hand in an enriching synthesis.

The Professor of Spanish Literature also recalled during his visit to the Faculty of Medicine that there are important pending issues, such as the reform of the entire building, located on Calle Ramón y Cajal, in order to adapt it and adjust it to the needs that his community currently has.

José Ramón González also visited the Faculty of Economics today, where he held a meeting with professors and part of the management team in which not only questions and comments have arisen, but suggestions have been made on issues that, if passed to the second round following the vote next Thursday, they will be incorporated and reinforced in the electoral program, a living document open to the proposals and considerations of all members of the university community.

In both visits, González has conveyed his commitment to a dialoguing, innovative institution, open to society, committed to equality, responsible and rooted in a social and economic environment to which it must adapt in order to be able to give the best answers and contribute to the transformation that is being faced, just as it affected the act of presenting his candidacy.

Likewise, the candidate has recalled that the main axes of his program revolve around a project that seeks to facilitate the development of the professional career of all the sectors that make up the University of Valladolid and that he will work to promote programs that allow consolidating the presence of postgraduates.
