Three parties meet on Saturday. The SVP delegates meet in Baar (ZG) to discuss in particular the country’s energy supply. The Greens will be in the same canton, in Zug, while their liberal counterparts will be in Solothurn.
The SVP believes that Switzerland is facing an “energy crisis of unprecedented magnitude” and places this theme at the center of its assembly of delegates. National councilors Albert Rösti (UDC/BE) and Roger Nordmann (PS/VD) will discuss the subject with Swissmem director Stefan Brupbacher.
In recent months, the party has already made its demands for a secure energy supply known. In particular, he is asking for 20 billion francs of investment, half of which would be allocated to nuclear power, for example to extend the operation of existing power plants. The SVP also wants to build gas depots and power stations in Switzerland and raise the dams. It also asks the Federal Council to organize a special summit on energy supply.
The delegates will also give their watchword for the federal votes on September 25. The party leadership recommends rejecting the intensive farming initiative. On the other hand, it recommends accepting the reform of the AVS (two projects) as well as the partial abolition of withholding tax.
Raw materials on the menu of the Greens
Also meeting in the canton of Zug, in the capital, the Greens will focus on the trade in raw materials, whose installation in Switzerland was made thanks to a “strategy of very low taxation” which prevented “any transparency in that sector”. The Greens will pass a resolution calling for an end to this lack of transparency.
They will vote on a second resolution asking to defend “a feminist Swiss foreign policy in the service of human rights and democracy”. They will also give their watchwords for the votes on 25 September.
In the canton of Solothurn, the Green Liberals will also consider the next votes. The steering committee recommends accepting all four objects.
