Gómez Palacio, Durango.- Employees who work in the different departments of the Gómez Palacio City Council will be vaccinated against influenza by the Municipal Health Directorate, with doses donated by the Mexican Social Security Institute.
José Antonio Adame de León, head of the agency, indicated that recently, at the request of the head of the Decentralized Drinking Water and Sewage System, Francisco Escalera Tostado, Health personnel went to Sideapa where they vaccinated 103 workers against influenza.
This initiative follows the instructions of the Municipal President Leticia Herrera Ale, who, in collaboration with the IMSS, has provided all its support for the implementation of this campaign that protects the municipality’s workers.
Adame de León added that visits are being scheduled to the agencies that request it from the Health Directorate, to apply the vaccine to whoever wishes it.
The official recalled that, in recent days, this vaccine was administered to the general public and City Hall workers, in a small module that was located in the lobby of the municipal presidency.
Finally, the head of Health mentioned that this campaign seeks to provide security to municipal workers in the face of the approaching cold season, a period in which respiratory diseases increase.

Gómez Palacio Takes Vaccination Seriously – Because Who Wants to Catch the Flu?
In a delightful twist of fate for both health and humor, the employees of the Gómez Palacio City Council are rolling up their sleeves—no, not for a group photo but for a much-needed dose of the influenza vaccine, courtesy of the Mexican Social Security Institute. Now, let’s be honest, if there’s one thing that sounds less appealing than a municipal meeting, it’s probably catching the flu.
José Antonio Adame de León—the man with a name as long as the list of things we’ve postponed doing this week—has stepped up to lead this initiative. He recently had health personnel visiting the Decentralized Drinking Water and Sewage System (or Sideapa, for those who enjoy lifesaving abbreviations) to vaccinate a sprightly number of 103 workers against the flu. Vaccinating 103 people? Now that’s something worth showing off beside the office coffee machine!
Of course, credit where credit is due. This initiative is a brainchild of none other than the Municipal President, Leticia Herrera Ale. Talk about leadership! She’s pulling all the strings to ensure municipal workers don’t succumb to the dreaded flu, a villain that lurks just around the corner when the weather turns chilly. Think of her as the superhero of public health… but without the cape, and probably in a very sensible suit.
Adame has also hinted at more vaccines on the horizon for workers who wish to combat the flu with the ferocity of a medieval knight defending their castle against the cold winds of winter. So, if you’re a worker looking to fend off a stuffy nose and relentless cough, the Municipal Health Directorate is on a quest to bring the vaccine to your doorstep—no dragon-slaying necessary!
Earlier this month, the vaccine was also thrown at the general public (metaphorically speaking—it was administered at a small module during the municipal presidency’s open hours). Imagine a scene—a line of hopeful citizens waiting to ward off the flu like it’s last week’s embarrassing TikTok video.
Lastly, let’s not forget the most crucial point: this campaign isn’t just about poking people with needles. It’s about providing a layer of security against the increase in respiratory diseases as the notoriously chilly season sneaks up on us like an unwelcome guest at a party. So why not let the professionals handle it? After all, nobody wants their workday interrupted by the sound of incessant coughing or the dreaded “I really don’t feel well” excuses that seem to multiply like rabbits in the spring.
In summary, Gómez Palacio is stepping up to the plate, proving that when it comes to health and safety in the workplace, they are no laughing matter. Or at least, they encourage you to take the jab—just don’t jab them with laughter at the next council meeting!
You’ve got to admire a city that takes their workers’ health seriously and gets them vaccinated before someone starts constructing a “Flu Shrine” out of cough drops and tissues!

**Interview with José Antonio Adame de León, Head of the Municipal Health Directorate of Gómez Palacio**
**Editor**: Good afternoon, José Antonio. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the flu vaccination initiative for Gómez Palacio City Council employees.
**Adame de León**: Good afternoon! It’s a pleasure to be here and share this important information.
**Editor**: Could you tell us a bit about the motivation behind this vaccination campaign?
**Adame de León**: Certainly. The initiative aims to protect our municipal workers from influenza, especially with the cold season approaching when respiratory illnesses tend to increase. It’s essential that our employees stay healthy to continue providing vital services to the community.
**Editor**: I understand that the Mexican Social Security Institute donated the doses for this campaign. How did that partnership come about?
**Adame de León**: Yes, we’re grateful for the support from the IMSS. After discussions with our Municipal President Leticia Herrera Ale, we identified the need for a flu vaccination campaign, and they generously provided us with the doses. This collaboration exemplifies our commitment to the health of our workers.
**Editor**: Recently, you were at the Decentralized Drinking Water and Sewage System to vaccinate some employees. How was that experience?
**Adame de León**: It was quite successful! We vaccinated 103 workers there. The health personnel did a fantastic job, and we received positive feedback from the employees who appreciated the opportunity to get vaccinated right at their workplace.
**Editor**: Will there be more vaccination opportunities for other employees who may have missed out?
**Adame de León**: Absolutely. We are scheduling visits to all departments that request it from the Health Directorate. We want to ensure that any worker interested in receiving the vaccine has that opportunity.
**Editor**: The public also recently had access to the vaccine. How did that initiative go?
**Adame de León**: We set up a small vaccination module in the lobby of the municipal presidency, and it was well-received. It’s crucial that we expand access to the community as well as our municipal employees, as public health is a shared responsibility.
**Editor**: do you have any message for the workers and residents regarding the upcoming flu season?
**Adame de León**: Yes, I encourage everyone to take their health seriously. Getting vaccinated is one of the best ways to protect not only yourself but also your family and coworkers from influenza. Let’s work together to create a healthier community.
