Mayor Ludwig presented the award to the mayor of Krakow
Vienna (OTS/RK) – On Friday, the “City President” of Krakow, Jacek Majchrowski, received the Golden Medal of Honor for services to the State of Vienna in the Vienna City Hall. Mayor Michael Ludwig presented the award in the presence of numerous guests of honor, including former mayor Michael Häupl.
In his speech, Ludwig called the long-time mayor of Krakow a “partner and friend of our city.” Majchrowski extended the cooperation agreement concluded in October 2000 with the Vienna city government several times and gradually intensified it. Since then, both cities have continually learned from each other. In this context, Ludwig mentioned the close cooperation between Vienna and Krakow in the areas of disaster control and crisis management. “Since October 2020, two very important cooperation agreements have been signed between Wiener Stadtwerke and Krakauer Kommunalholding – in the areas of energy, mobility and IT – and between Krakauer Kommunalholding and our Wien Holding – regarding the 5G expansion in Krakow, joint future EU Projects and the networking of universities and research institutions – permanently sealed,” said the Mayor of Vienna. The most recent example of close cooperation was the “Vienna Science Days” in Krakow at the end of last year, during which representatives of both city administrations and renowned universities discussed current and future urban development plans. The good axis between Vienna and Krakow will continue to solidify, Ludwig concluded.
