World gold prices

Global gold prices turned sharply lower when trading settled on Thursday, with the release of economic data that reflected the strength of the labor market in the United States, despite monetary tightening by the Federal Reserve.

ADP data showed that jobs in the US private sector rose, recording the largest monthly increase since July 2022, as it increased by 497 thousand jobs in June, which is more than the number of jobs revised downward for May of 267 thousand, and more than double expectations of 220 thousand.

Upon settlement, gold futures contracts for August delivery fell by 0.6%, or the equivalent of $11.7, to reach $1915.4 an ounce, following touching $1934.0 during trading.

The dollar index, which measures the performance of the US currency once morest a basket of 6 major currencies, fell by 0.15%, at 103.19 points.
