Two-man bobsleigh Olympic champion Laura Nolte has ensured a historic victory in German bobsleigh. On Saturday she secured success in the monobob in Lake Placid. In the 15th World Cup race in the history of this discipline, it was the first German success. Nolte won with a total time of 2:01, 31 minutes ahead of monobob Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries of the USA, who was 0.11 seconds behind. Nolte set a track record of 1:00.47 minutes in the first run. Third was Lisa Buckwitz, who set a start record of 5.80 seconds in the first run. The third German starter, Kim Kalicki, took fifth place.
