Manjeri: Gokulam FC entered the group round of the Super Cup following drowning Mohammedans in a rain of goals. Gokulam defeated Muhammadans 5-2 in the qualifying match at Payyanad Stadium. Julian Omar Ramos (10th minute), K. Sourav (46), Farshad Noor (64), Tahir Zaman (78) and N. Abdul Haque (85) scored for Gokulam. Abiola Dauda scored a brace (26, 48) for Mohammedans. After winning the qualifiers, Gokulam ATK entered Group C with Mohun Bagan, FC Goa and Jamshedpur FC. Gokulam ATK will face Mohun Bagan in the first group round match at Kozhikode Stadium on 10th. In the first match of the evening, Srinithi Deccan FC also reached the group round following beating Neroca FC 4–2.
Before the Muhammadans realized what was happening, Gokulam’s first blow struck. First goal by Spanish star Julian Omar Ramos. Later Gokulam stars were seen rushing to Muhammadans’ inbox. But the Mohammedans capitalized through Nigerian star Abiola Dauda in the 27th minute following a lapse in defense.
It was a setback for Gokulam when superstar Sergio Mendy had to withdraw in the eighth minute due to injury.
