ABB expands the GoFa TM family of cobots
ABB is launching two new versions of its GoFaTM collaborative robot. GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 offer new possibilities for companies to leverage automation through collaborative robots to increase efficiency. Handling payloads of up to 10 and 12 kg with industry-leading repeatability, cobots can handle a wide range of tasks in close collaboration with workers, addressing skills and manpower shortages and improving safety and productivity. Offering simple programming and quick integration into production environments, the new models lower the barriers of entry for entry-level users, educators and SMBs.
New versions in the GoFa™ family of cobots set a new standard with higher payloads, best-in-class range and industry-leading repeatability
“Since we launched our YuMi cobot in 2015, we have built an industry-leading portfolio of collaborative robots, meeting the growing demand for safe and easy-to-use automation solutions to fill gaps in skilled manpower,” said Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics. “Addressing the need for collaborative robots with higher payloads and longer range, our GoFa 10 and 12 cobots extend the benefits of automation to new industrial applications, even for first-time users.”
Cat 3/PLd safety certification for close collaboration with workers
In addition to their improved payloads, the GoFa 10 and 12 cobots offer tool center point (TCP) speeds of up to two meters per second with 0.02 mm offset for increased repeatability – a twofold improvement over comparable solutions . IP67 certified once morest ingress of moisture and dust, they extend the benefits of fast and accurate collaborative robotics to new industrial applications, automating demanding tasks such as machine maintenance, welding, parts handling, polishing and assembly. The GoFa 10’s 1.62 meter reach – 14% longer than others in its class and enough to cover US pallets – makes it ideal for palletizing applications.
Lowering barriers to automation for entry-level users and SMBs
The GoFa 10 and 12 cobots are easy to program, deploy and use, lowering the barriers to automation for entry-level users and SMBs. Setup is made easy with end-to-end programming and ABB’s Wizard Easy programming software, allowing even non-experts to quickly automate their applications by manipulating simple graphical command blocks instead of writing complex programming code.
Pre-installed on the ABB FlexPendant robot controller for cobots, the ABB SafeMove app features safe speed limits, standstill monitoring and guidance supervision, enabling close collaboration between robots and factory workers without the need for protective barriers or fences. bulky.
Further lowers entry barriers for entry-level users, SMBs, and educators with easy programming and rapid deployment
The GoFa 10 and GoFa 12 cobots are powered by ABB’s OmniCoreTM controller. The combination of OmniCore’s class-leading motion control, powered by ABB’s TrueMove and QuickMove motion control technologies, and GoFa’s intelligent torque and position sensors ensures the smooth motions needed for surface finishing, fastening, assembly tasks. and high precision test. Energy-saving features, including energy regeneration and braking energy recovery, reduce energy requirements by up to 20%, increasing sustainability.
Leveraging the innovation of the ABB Robotics ecosystem, the company expands the GoFa family of cobots
In response to the increasing diversification of automation applications, ABB has also launched its ABB Robotics Ecosystem program. Bringing together third-party accessories such as grips, cameras and custom software compatible with ABB’s portfolio, including the new GoFa cobots, the program allows users to easily leverage innovation across ABB Robotics’ fast-growing ecosystem.
The GoFa 12 cobot will make its debut at ABB’s booth at Automatica 2023 (Hall B5, booth 319, 27-30 June) as part of two demonstrations showcasing ultra-fine palletizing and high-precision machine control applications. Schunk, an ABB partner, will also be present at the fair with a GoFa 12 cobot, demonstrating its range of grippers and tools with a polishing application (Hall A5, stand 502).
