The “Easter Basket” and the “Godfather’s Basket” were presented a while ago by the leadership of the Ministry of Development.
The “basket of godparents” starts next Wednesday, March 29, as officially announced on Wednesday morning by the leadership of the Ministry of Development and Investments, in order to facilitate the purchases of godparents for their godparents ahead of the Easter holiday season.
In particular, the two new festive “baskets” will concern supermarkets and toy stores. The “godfather’s basket” of toys and candles will be implemented in toy stores from March 29th to April 15th.
Game companies with an annual turnover of more than 1,000,000 euros are expected to participate in this compulsorily, as well as those with a smaller turnover who wish to participate voluntarily.
The toy categories that will be formed by the relevant ministry and from which each business will choose each week the products that will make up its catalogs, are expected to be similar to those at Christmas. However, candles with toys will also be added for godparents shopping for their godparents.
The “Easter basket” will take the place of the “Lenten basket”, a few days before Easter and will be created to meet the needs of consumers when shopping for food for their Easter table.
The “godfather’s basket” in toy stores is modeled following the “Santa’s basket” that came into force at Christmas time. It will include a total of 12 toy categories as follows: candles and toys, chocolate eggs, board games and puzzles, doll toys, dollhouses and other accessories (imitation toys), baby toys, action figures, construction and creation toys (e.g. bricks), vehicles – remote control, electronic toys, sports toys (e.g. balls, children’s basketballs and goals), stuffed animals and musical toys,
As Mr. Georgiadis then explained, soon the household basket will be enriched with products traditionally consumed by Greeks during Easter.
“I am in constant discussions with the central meat market of Athens in order to reach an agreement for better prices for lamb and goat, in the same way as the agreement I reached with the central fish market of Athens for the price of cod” he underlined.
