God of War Ragnarök has long been shaping up to be the biggest and most anticipated release of the entire generation for PlayStation. Being an exclusive of PS5many fans expect the title to become one of the best tech demos and graphics of what the console can do, and it must be said that the fence is high following the prequel (God of War 2018) was released on PC in January of this year.
Now, a recent clip released by Sonywhich focuses on showing the multiple accessibility options that the title will have, has generated a lot of controversy among the community, which has been shown especially on Reddit and other social networks, such as Facebook.

In the preview presented by Santa Monica Studios you can see a small portion of the cinematics that has already been seen in a previous video. However, what the fans did not fail to notice was the alleged simplification with which the graphics are shown this time; that is, with less detail in the modeling of Kratos, less dynamic light and poorly defined shadows.
In Reddit there were those who accused Sony and Santa Monica of making a graphic downgrade to the game. “Does it look worse?” user GeographyQuiz replied. “You can’t even notice the neck tattoos. Actually, it does look worse. I live in Canada and when there is snow, it is all white everywhere. Unless you have the sun shining all the time in this game, the fog and filters look terrible and unrealistic,” replied JuicyJonesGOAT.
“Much less defined and they have added a blue filter. It’s like someone spilled Vaseline on the picture. It still looks great, but I think they’re going the other way if I’m being honest regarding this (clip),” Hustler1966 said.

Nor were there those who thought precisely the opposite. However, they pointed out that the video presented in 2021 had 1080p resolution, while this new one has been presented in 4K. In addition, the new version of the clip does have some additional visual effects, such as the effects of the vapor coming out of the characters (Kratos and Atreus) and the dynamics of the lighting with the snow particles.
