A few days following Grounded left Early Access, Obsidian’s amazing survival game has become David Jaffe’s new favorite game to play. The father of God of War and Twisted Metal says he’s fascinated by the “surprisingly scary” atmosphere of the Xbox Game Studios sandbox.

The former creative director of Sony Santa Monica took to his social media and discussed his “latest crush” with the many fans who follow him on Twitter, explaining that

I haven’t enjoyed such a scary game in a long time. Looking at the marketing and promotional materials, I would NEVER have thought it would be such a tense and violent game, a horror version of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. But it is, and I love it for that!

While expressing his enthusiasm for Grounded and his surprise at discovering a thrilling vein of survival experience, God of War’s father mentions the movie that the Obsidian team undoubtedly drew inspiration from to create this whimsical survival experience. As David Jaffe suggested, we are referring to “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids,” the iconic Disney movie of the late 80s.
