facts

At the beginning of this year we first heard of a possible “God of War” TV Series Adaptation heard. Now it’s fixed. Sony and Amazon have concluded negotiations.

The show is written by Wheel of Time and executive produced Rafe Judkins directed. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby from Prime Video’s The Expanse are co-writers alongside Judkins. Sony Pictures and Television should with PlayStation Productions and PlayStation Games work together to help produce the show. To what extent Cory Barlog by Sony Santa Monica Studios has not (yet) been revealed.

  • Who should play Kratos?
No actors have been named for the live-action series. Christopher Judge (Stargate SG-1) of the Kratos already in the 2018 reboot and God of War Ragnarök has already expressed an interest in keeping “his” role for a possible TV series. Lots of fans on Twitter might as well dave bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) as Kratos.
  • When will the God of War TV series start?
There is currently no time frame. So don’t expect the series to be around the corner and the first season to be released in a few months.

God of War TV adaptation confirmed on Prime Video

A new Prime Video Twitter post confirms the series adaptation of the popular PlayStation game. The story follows the plot of the 2018 God of War reboot, in which Kratos relinquishes his title as the Greek god of war in favor of a peaceful life in the Norse kingdom of Midgard.

“Kratos embarks on a perilous journey with his estranged son to scatter her ashes from the highest peak – his wife’s dying wish,” reads the official description of the TV series. “Kratos soon realizes the journey is an epic quest in disguise, one that will test the bonds between father and son and force Kratos to fight new gods and monsters for the fate of the world.”

There are still a few questions left unanswered by this announcement. At least we now know that the TV series builds on the game from 2018 and is no longer a rumor.
