Resolution of the federal management 10 of the trade union for compulsory school teachers

Vienna (OTS) – Unfortunately, many politicians have lost touch with the people and an interested view of reality. This is one of the most serious reasons for the population’s disenchantment with politics. One prefers to exercise actionism and appeasement instead of being really interested in feedback from those affected and orienting oneself to it. A typical example is how politicians are dealing with the long-predicted lack of well-trained teachers and the associated overloading of teachers, with dramatic consequences for all those affected.

For this reason, the federal leadership 10 calls on those responsible at state and federal level to finally

to initiate effective and sustainable measures once morest a lack of pedagogical specialists, to stop the flood of impractical reforms and unevaluated pedagogical innovations, for all compulsory schools professional support staff (pedagogical, psychological, social-emotional, therapeutic, administrative and from the health sector) in sufficient numbers as well as necessary To provide resources in technical and spatial terms, to adapt all facets of special educational needs to the real school needs, to create attractive working conditions and to ensure better payment for teachers, to reduce administration and bureaucracy to the absolutely necessary and To convert educational authorities into service facilities for schools and to adapt the training of future colleagues to the actual school requirements in all areas.

Modern education systems place particularly high demands on all educators in the system. They should therefore be adequately supported and treated with appropriate respect in order to keep them in the system – at least that is what the OECD thinks. In Austria, this does not seem to have been sufficiently recognized.

The trade union for compulsory school teachers therefore urges all those responsible for (education) politics in our country to finally meet the enormous school challenges far-sightedly and sustainably.

In order to quickly implement our demands, we reserve the right to take appropriate trade union measures across the board!

This resolution was passed unanimously by all parliamentary groups (FCG, FSG, UG) at the meeting of the Federal Executive 10.
