Kozhikode: Director Blessy said that while making a literary work into a film, the filmmaker has the freedom to bring innovation to it and the film Adu Jivetham is a search for life beyond the novel. He was speaking at a face-to-face program organized by the Kozhikode Press Club. The novel was not copied exactly. If a film is made like a novel, it will turn into a documentary. Innovation cannot be brought there. The changes in the artistic expression of cinema should be recognized.

Converting the novel into a film was a challenge. Many changes can be seen from the story scenes in the novel to the movie. The author had earlier taken permission from Benjamin. Benjamin tried to take the film beyond what he had written. Audiences come to theaters to enjoy the visual language of the story that everyone knows. The film was shaped accordingly. The director said that he is very happy with the audience support for the film.

The writer Benjamin said that the controversies going on together with the novel and the film are unnecessary and the change that occurs when a piece of literature becomes a film is natural. Readers of the book were not confused regarding this. But when the film was released, it was the confusion of people outside the reading community that now became controversial, he said. KR Gokul, a native of Kozhikode, said that he was happy to portray Hakeem in a good manner in the film. Singer Jitin Raj said that the song ‘Perione Rahmane’ won him a lot of love from the people, even though it might not be fully included in the film. Moosakutty Vettikkatiri, who worked as a language consultant in the film, Press Club President M Firoz Khan, Secretary PS Rakesh and AV Fardees were also present.
