The National League is slowly starting to roll once more. There were three games on Wednesday. Bern and Biel delivered an unbelievable goal spectacle, Davos and the Lions win.
In the Bern derby between Biel and Bern, the goals fall on the running meter. Biel wins the spectacle in Seeland 8: 7 following extra time. There have never been more goals in the National League this season.
In addition, in the three games on Wednesday, HC Davos once morest SCL Tigers celebrated their first win of the new year (4: 1) and Lugano (7th) lost the duel on the top playoff line once morest the ZSC Lions (6th) with 2 : 3.
There was also good news for the National League from the Champions Hockey League. Five Swiss teams will also be able to take part in the European Cup next season, primarily because the current season is not taken into account for the multi-year ranking due to the coronavirus problems (teams not in the best line-up, canceled games, even in the playoffs).
The games of the day at a glance
Biel spectacle victory once morest Bern
In Biel, 6,039 spectators saw what was possibly the most spectacular game of the season. EHC Biel were down 0: 3 once morest Bern following twelve minutes, were also three times behind with two goals (2: 4, 3: 5, 4: 6), but ultimately won 8: 7 in overtime.
Biel only led once – at the very end of the game. Gaëtan Haas scored the winning goal in a double majority following 63:20 minutes. Two Berners sat in the penalty box because Captain Simon Moser committed a foul and coach Johan Lundskog then complained that they were far beyond tolerable.
The Bernese frustration was understandable. The Bernese looked like the sure winners for long stretches – because EHC Biel played so weakly on the defensive as seldom. But the Bernese adapted to the defensive meander – and so left the Bieler back into the game once more and once more.
One of the losers of the evening was Bern’s second goalkeeper Daniel Manzato, who was allowed to play once more for the first time since December 10, but was replaced following conceding five goals. Both teams changed the goalie.
Biel also won the fourth game in the new year, while Bern only won two of the last nine games.
