Goa: In Goa (GOA) the Congress is leading when the results are released. This is good news for the party leadership. The Congress is leading in 19 seats with 40 per cent of the vote counted. The absolute majority wants 21 seats. The Trinamool Congress is leading in all four seats. Utpal Parrikar, son of former chief minister and late leader Manohar Parrikar, is leading in Panaji. Initially, BJP chief minister Pramod Sawand was behind but has now taken the lead.
Meanwhile, the Congress is gripping the candidates. This is a preparation for not repeating past history. The Congress candidates were shifted to a resort in South Goa. The candidates were at a resort in North Goa yesterday. The High Command had sent a team to Goa to coordinate efforts to control them and bring the largest single party to power. The High Command sent DK Sivakumar of Karnataka and the Sixth Group to control the Congress in Goa. Meanwhile, Congress sought permission to meet the governor. Permission was sought to see him at three o’clock in the followingnoon. The Congress leadership in Goa is so confident
The Congress was the largest single party, winning 17 of the 40 seats in the 2017 election. But the BJP, which won 13 seats, formed a government there, failing to garner support from even smaller parties. Two years later, 15 Congress MLAs joined the BJP. This made it easier for the BJP to rule. This time, the Congress has tightened its belt and head to avoid this
It is because of this situation that the Congress has tightened its grip on the candidates. Candidates were shifted to resorts the day before the election results to ensure that there would be no deviations. If he becomes the largest single party following the election, DK Sivakumar and his team will return only following the government is formed with the support of other smaller parties.
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said the people of Goa have full confidence in him and will give victory to the party. DK Sivakumar also claims that the government will be formed. The High Command is holding talks with parties including the Aam Aadmi Party.
The BJP, which won 13 seats last time, is hoping to improve its position this time. Anti-government sentiment is the challenge facing the BJP. Utpal Parrikar, the son of former chief minister and late leader Manohar Parrikar, is also a dissident candidate in the BJP.
Exit polls suggest infighting in Goa The Republic TV exit poll predicted that the ruling BJP and Congress would win 13 to 17 seats. The Trinamool Congress is projected to win four seats and the others two. At the same time, in the Ties Now veto exit poll, Congress has the upper hand. The Times Now predicted that the Congress would become the largest single party with 16 seats, while the ruling BJP would win only 14 seats. The Times Now predicts four seats for the Aam Aadmi Party in Goa. The India Today Axis My India survey predicts clear dominance for the Congress. While the BJP is projected to win 14 to 18 seats, the Congress is projected to win 15-20 seats.
Who is the Chief Minister of Goa?
Savando or Kamath?
When the exit poll results came out, the majority predicted that no one in Goa would have an absolute majority. The Congress and the BJP are equally likely to form a government. If so, who will be the Chief Minister? What are the possibilities?
1. Pramod Sawand.
The BJP came to power in 2017 with the largest single party, the Congress, in power. The BJP has fielded him as its chief ministerial candidate during the campaign. His RSS background, closeness to the central leadership and in so many ways he deserves the party.
2. Vishwajit Rane
Things are not going to be easy for Pramod Sawand. Vishwajit, a Congressman, is the son of Pratap Singh Rana, Goa’s longest-serving chief minister. His father, who is still a Congressman, abstained from the election due to pressure from Vishwat, who defected to the BJP. Vishwajit may turn out to be a consensus when it comes to forming a government without forming alliances with other parties.
3. Digambar Kamath
Though the Congress did not field a Chief Ministerial candidate, it was Digambar Kamat who led the election.
4. Michael Lobo
The biggest setback for the BJP during the election was Minister Michael Lobo’s shift to the Congress. The BJP is one of the strongest forces in North Goa. His wife was not given a seat. He left the party as soon as the Congress gave it to him. Michael Lobo has started trying to become the Chief Minister if he gets power. It is learned that he had exchanged views with the MLAs and the allied Goa Forward Party seeking their support.
5. Sudhin Dhawalikar
Leader of the Maharashtrawadi Gomandak Party (MGP). It was the first major party in Goa. But today the situation is deplorable. The BJP has ended its alliance with the Trinamool this time. Last time, he was given the post of Deputy Chief Minister for helping the BJP form the government. But the BJP dismissed the two MLAs who were with it like curry leaves. The party has already announced that it will not support the BJP this time. If it is a hanging assembly, it will claim the post of Chief Minister before the Congress. We need to know whether it will get support from Trinamool.
6. Churchill Alamo
The Trinamool is projected to win two or three seats. Churchill Alamo is the party’s strongest candidate, so it is likely that Trinamool will ask Alamo to become chief minister in front of those seeking help to reach a simple majority. The Chief Minister once sat in the chair in 1990. . Alamao, who did not change his mind, finally came to Trinamool from the NCP.
