Officials of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) prevented the entry of Carlos de Sousa Amaro, Portuguese ambassador to Venezuela, to the Guárico state.
Ambassador of Portugal
The diplomat was detained at approximately 10:00 am this Thursday, in an alcabala in San Juan de Los Morros.
There, the officials refused to allow the passage, arguing that in order to transit through Guárico state, De Sousa had to have a “special invitation or permit.” This was reported VPI.
It was learned that the Portuguese ambassador was traveling with the opposition leader Octavio Orta. Both were going to that llanera region to hold a meeting with four mayors of the entity to work on a social care program.
Later, it was reported that the ambassador had to return to Caracas, however, he stressed that he traveled throughout the state of Aragua and no permission was requested.
