Shortly following noon on Thursday, a 61-year-old from the Gmunden district was working in a hall in Gmunden. Her dog, which she had with her, was probably near the shop gate that cordoned off the hall when a one-year-old boy stuck his hand through the gate from outside. The dog snapped and injured the boy’s hand. The toddler was given first aid by the rescue team and taken to the hospital, which he was able to leave following outpatient treatment.
In the past few weeks and months there have been repeated incidents in Austria – The worst was at the beginning of October, when dogs bit a jogger to death in Naarn (Perg district).
This has sparked a renewed discussion regarding the dog ownership law.
