Gmunden and Vienna are heading for the play-off final

BC Vienna and Swans Gmunden have taken the next step towards the final in the men’s basketball super league. The Viennese also gave UBSC Graz no chance in Styria with 84:63 and thus made it 2:0 in the “Best of five” series of the semi-finals on Wednesday. The Upper Austrians also gained this advantage with a 107:90 at the Oberwart Gunners. Both defeated teams are already under pressure in the third games on Saturday.

The favorite for the title from Vienna proved its supremacy right from the start. After the first quarter there was a 26:8 lead. As a result, the Grazers at least managed to limit the damage, the defeat might be kept lower than the 113:72 at the start. It is not to be expected that the Styrians will be able to bring excitement to the series once more on Saturday (5.30 p.m.) in Vienna.

Friedrich with a career best

Gmunden took the lead and was already 45:34 ahead at the break. With a strong third quarter, the Gunners came within six points, but the turnaround was no longer in the air. The guests also got the upper hand in the finish because they made fewer fouls. 82 points of the Upper Austrians went to Austrian players, Daniel Friedrich was outstanding with 31 points. With this mark he also set a new career best. In front of the home crowd on Saturday (8.15 p.m.) there is now the chance to close the sack early.
