Gloomy day on Oslo Børs – the main index down almost 3 per cent

The sharp fall is seen in the context of a crisis atmosphere on several of the world’s major stock exchanges. Both Wall Street and the Asian stock markets fell sharply after several major companies released disappointing numbers this week.

In the last week, Oslo Børs has fallen 1.76 percent. But it is only two days since Oslo Børs had a new top listing when the main index ended at 1459.29 points.

The oil price fell by almost 4 per cent during Friday, and on Friday afternoon North Sea oil traded for 76.9 dollars a barrel.

The most traded companies all had red numbers. Equinor fell 1.77 percent. This is followed by DNB, which fell 2.3 per cent, and Aker BP, which fell 3.5 per cent. The shipping company Frontline fell by 5.7 per cent and Norsk Hydro by 2.8 per cent.

In Europe, too, the arrows pointed downwards on the most important stock exchanges. In Paris, the CAC 40 index fell by 1.29 percent. In London, the FTSE100 fell by 1.44 percent. The DAX 30 in Frankfurt fell by 2.1 percent.

In New York, there was a decline in all three major indices after lower activity in American industrial production was reported last night Norwegian time. Before 5 p.m., the S&P 500 composite index was down 2.4 percent, the Nasdaq down 3 percent and the Dow Jones index fell 2.1 percent.
