Globe, a leading Philippine telecommunications company and digital solutions platform, has maintained its leadership position in the prestigious FTSE4Good Index series for the ninth consecutive year, underscoring its clear commitment to sustainable practices as a leading mobile operator.
The FTSE4Good Index Series was developed by FTSE Russell, a global provider of indices and information, to measure the performance of companies that demonstrate good environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. The FTSE4Good Index is used by a wide range of market participants to develop and evaluate responsible investment funds and other products.
FTSE Russell ratings are based on performance in areas such as corporate governance, health and safety, anti-corruption and climate change. Companies included in the FTSE4Good index family meet various environmental, social and governance standards.
“We are committed to driving positive change within our organization and the communities we serve. This recognition inspires us to continue our efforts to continue being a responsible corporate citizen.
Globe has integrated sustainability into its core business, starting from the identification of its key themes. By conducting materiality studies every two years, companies are able to prioritize the issues that matter most to their stakeholders. Globe also conducts risk assessments at the company level, which also take into account risks related to sustainability. This annual event involves senior executives from all business units and the Management Committee, ensuring that Globe remains vigilant and proactive in its sustainability efforts.
Leaders use both top-down and bottom-up approaches to set sustainability goals, align them with the company’s business goals, and provide the necessary resources to achieve their goals. Employees are innovative and find solutions to ensure ambitious goals are truly achieved. We create incentives for employees and managers to promote compliance with and accountability for our sustainability commitments and goals.
The Sustainability Council has become a platform for educating, sharing best practices and discussing sustainability challenges and opportunities to better serve our clients. An internal ESG manual has also been created to provide practical guidance.
In line with the principles of transparency and accountability, Globe publishes annually integrated reportingProvide information on its ESG performance. This sums up how Globe creates value for and with its stakeholders to achieve positive impact on society and the environment. The report also marks the second year of the launch of the GSMA Mobile ESG Indicator, which highlights a company’s key impact on mobile industry-specific KPIs, particularly in the areas of environment, digital inclusion, digital integrity and sustainable supply chains.
The integrated report is externally audited to ensure that non-financial sustainability-related disclosures and performance data comply with GRI and SASB reporting standards and the principles of stakeholder engagement, substance, responsiveness, reliability, completeness and neutrality.
Likewise, for the first time, Globe has obtained an independent verification statement confirming the fair representation of Globe’s greenhouse gas emissions data, covering Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
