Unfortunate words of General Kukuła
On Friday, at the Land Forces Academy in Wrocław, General Wiesław Kukuła gave a lecture inaugurating the new academic year. The Chief of the General Staff stated that “everything indicates that we are the generation that will stand with weapons in our hands to defend our country.” He added that we will win this war, we will continue to build Poland, but we must build armed forces prepared in the event of aggression. Implicitly, from Russia.
Disturbing words of the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army. They are about war
Marek Meissner, a military and economic analyst from ISBNews.pl, comments on this statement in an interview with Onet. First of all, he recommends that the Chief of the General Staff be more careful when formulating such bold theses.
— I understand that the general was talking to students of a military university and wanted to shake up Polish politicians who influence our defense. However, let us remember that the current geopolitical conditions are not favorable to the possible aggressor, i.e. Russia. It would first have to rebuild its military strength, but it is still losing it in Ukraine, notes Marek Meissner.

The Chief of the General Staff puts a cross in Ukraine?
He adds that General Kukuła’s words convey a dangerous reflection on the ongoing war beyond our eastern border.
— Perhaps, speaking about the threat of war, he has already put his cross in Ukraine. Meanwhile, I do not see any tendencies for Western countries to turn their backs on Ukraine. I also wonder if the general is sure that Russia’s aggression would definitely be directed at Poland and not, for example, the Baltic states? Yes, we would also have to fight due to NATO guarantees, but a war outside Poland would be one thing, and one in defense of our own independence would be another thing. From his words we can conclude that he has the second scenario in mind, i.e. defending his own integrity, and in my opinion this is a very long way – emphasizes Marek Meissner.
General Kukuła’s words that our generation will rather have to take up arms are also perceived as a form of “cossacks”, as a dangerous and exaggerated statement. After all, we have an army that is undergoing reconstruction and is not currently ready for a serious armed conflict.
