Always lower. Global markets were once more in disarray on Monday. The CAC 40 sank 2.75% to 6,082 points and is now approaching its lowest levels of the year, in early March, when it briefly fell below 6,000 points. With a drop of almost 15% in 2022, it has wiped out all of its gains since the pandemic. The MSCI representative index of world stock markets sank below its low points in March.
The turbulence is particularly marked on Wall Street, where the S&P 500 has chained five consecutive weeks of fall, a series not seen since 2011. It still dropped 2.4% at the time of the European close.
