This came in Al-Zeyoudi’s statements, on the sidelines of the closing session of the Thirteenth Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization in Abu Dhabi, the outcomes of which included agreement on a road map for reforming the World Trade Organization and settling disputes, in addition to extending e-commerce fees for two years. He added that the accession of the Comoros and East Timor to the World Trade Organization constitutes the culmination of the efforts made, noting that for the first time in the history of the organization’s ministerial conference, the agriculture file was addressed, as the members have made great strides in the discussions, which will be completed during the periodic meetings in Geneva and preparations for the next ministerial conference.

He pointed out that the negotiations were regarding to complete the second phase of the fisheries file and put the final touches, which formed the basis for continuing to work forward on all files, noting that the ministerial conference was an impetus forward to continue the momentum in the process of rapprochement in positions among the members of the organization.

He said that during its first days, the Ministerial Conference witnessed a large attendance of more than 9,900 people, in addition to many economic side events that witnessed the participation of international organizations and private sector institutions, while a set of reports were launched that would directly help the global trade system.

He added that the UAE embraced the negotiations and succeeded in bringing the visions of the member states closer together and pushing efforts towards strengthening the process of sustainable development forward, noting that there was consensus on many files that witnessed the keenness to make progress, which reflected the positive spirit during the negotiations phase, as the last days witnessed an acceleration in the completion of the negotiations.
