Gladiadores de Anzoátegui will host Trotamundos de Carabobo this Tuesday, August 27, at the Luis Ramos gym on the Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz axis, in what will be a key day towards the final of the 2024 Professional Basketball Super League (SPB).
La Armadura, leader of the Super Round with nine points thanks to four wins and one loss, faces Expreso Azul, which has seven points from two victories and three losses.
If the Anzoategui team beats the Carabobo team, it would be very well positioned to secure its ticket to the decisive series. In fact, it could ensure its presence in the final once and for all if its hypothetical victory is combined with one by Guaiqueríes de Margarita over Cocodrilos de Caracas in what will be the other duel of the day.
Favorable scenario
A win for Gladiadores against Trotamundos would keep them in the lead of the Super Round, now with 11 points and two games left to play. In the worst case scenario, La Armadura could reach 13 points if they lose the two remaining matches.
Expreso Azul would be left with eight points in six matches and the maximum they could reach is 12 points. A defeat for Cocodrilos on August 27 would leave them in the same conditions as Trotamundos, while Marinos de Oriente, last in the table (and with a free date), can only reach 12.
None of the three could reach Ronald Guillén’s team, and that is why they would secure their place in the final for the second consecutive season, with two games to play. However, it must be taken into account that the quintet from Carabobo is in good form with two consecutive victories and will be playing for their lives in the duel against Gladiadores.
The duel at the Luis Ramos gym will start at 7:00 pm.
