Gladiators strengthens with Durrell Summers and Luis Duarte in SPB

This Tuesday, August 13, the draft of reinforcements for the Super Round of the 2024 Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) postseason was held.

There, Gladiadores de Anzoátegui had the privilege of choosing first, as it was the team with the best record in the regular phase. In its first opportunity, La Armadura took the foreign shooting guard Durrell Summers, while in the second opportunity it acquired the services of the Venezuelan forward Luis “Tapipa” Duarte, both from Broncos de Caracas.

It is worth noting that Summers was with Brillantes del Zulia in the final stretch of the season and was then taken by the capital team as a reinforcement for the Intergroup Phase.

For his part, “Tapipa” is one of the most outstanding natives of the tournament and was even among those selected for the 2024 SPB All-Star Game.

Rest of the choices

In the first round of the draft, the other four teams that will play in the semi-finals also took advantage of their opportunity to strengthen their roster.

Cocodrilos de Caracas took Luis Almanza and Guaiqueríes de Margarita added Matthew Butler (both from Héroes de Falcón). Tymothy Bond Jr. was selected by Marinos de Oriente from Pioneros del Ávila and Yohanner Sifontes goes to Trotamundos de Carabobo from Spartans de Distrito Capital.

In the second round, La Armadura chose “Tapipa” Duarte, the Saurian quintet grabbed Tyler Wilkerson (Broncos) and the Eastern Battleship added Luis Carrillo (Spartans). Both La Tribu and the Blue Express decided to pass.

With the teams that have qualified and the reinforcements defined, the league is expected to announce the Super Round schedule in the next few hours, where the five teams will compete for the two spots in the grand final.
