Gladiadores de Anzoátegui remains comfortably at the top of Group 1 of the 2024 Professional Basketball Super League (SPB), following beating Spartans de Distrito Capital and Broncos de Caracas over the weekend.
La Armadura defeated both rivals at the Luis Ramos gymnasium on the Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz axis and reached 19 wins and two losses, for a total of 40 points. Their closest rival is Trotamundos de Carabobo, who has a record of 15-6.
Ronald Guillén’s team beat the Spartans on Friday with a score of 87-85, while on Sunday they dominated the Broncos 88-70. In both duels Gregory Vargas had a great contribution with assists, as he added 22 in total.
A feat for Vargas
The “Super Mouse”, captain of the Anzoátegui quintet, also surpassed the barrier of three thousand qualifications in national professional basketball, a club that he shares with Sam Shepard, Rubén Nembhard and Harold Keeling.
