Gladiators fell to Guaiqueríes and Marinos beat Trotamundos in the SPB

On Monday, August 19, a new day of the Super Round of the Professional Basketball Super League (SPB) 2024 was held. In the two matches of the night, Gladiadores de Anzoátegui fell to Guaiqueríes de Margarita, while Marinos de Oriente beat Trotamundos de Carabobo.

The Armory was unable to face the Aboriginal quintet at the Guaiqueríes Arena in La Asunción, Nueva Esparta state, and fell with a score of 92-69. At the Rutaca Sport Arena in Maturín, Monagas state, the Eastern Battleship dispatched the Blue Express with a score of 91-78.

Both results leave La Tribu as the only undefeated team in the round robin, with two victories in the same number of games. On the other hand, the team from Carabobo is still without a win after three games.

Despite the setback, Gladiadores remains at the top of the Super Round standings with a 2-1 record and five points. Guaiqueríes follows with four points, while Cocodrilos de Caracas and Marinos are tied with a 1-1 record and four points. Cabriales is at the bottom with 0-3 and three points.

Protagonists

In Monday’s matches, the imported players were the protagonists in the victories of their respective teams. Donald Sims stood out in Guaiqueríes’ victory with 19 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Timothy Bond Jr. was the standout performer in both the Marinos’ success and the Super Round day. The American finished with 30 hits, seven catches and six rebounds.

The Venezuelan basketball semifinal action continues on Wednesday, August 21. Cocodrilos and Acorazado Oriental will face each other in the country’s capital, while Trotamundos and Guaiqueríes will face each other in Valencia. Gladiadores will have a free date.
