Gladiators of Anzoátegui defeated Llaneros de Guárico this Wednesday with a score of 93-78, in another round of the 2024 Professional Basketball Super League (SPB).

The match, held at the Luis Ramos gymnasium on the Barcelona-Puerto La Cruz axis, featured La Armadura captain Gregory Vargas, who surpassed the record of 178 assists in a SPB season.

The “Super Mouse” closed the duel with 13 points, nine assists and five rebounds, to be among the most outstanding in the 20th victory of the Anzoategui quintet.

Marked differences

Although the first quarter ended in a tie at 18 points, the second quarter saw the differences that are also reflected in the SPB Group 1 standings.

Gladiators won the quarter by 11 points and went into the break up 48-37. When the match resumed, Ronald Guillén’s team pulled away further on the scoreboard and in the final 10 minutes they worked to maintain the advantage and secure the victory.

The Armory reached 20 wins after two losses for a total of 42. It is worth adding that with the victory in the last round against Broncos de Caracas, it had assured itself of finishing in first place in the table.

The next challenge for the Anzoategui team will be on Sunday, July 7 against Brillantes del Zulia.
