“Gladiator 2” by Ridley Scott, preview images

The long-awaited first images of “Gladiator 2” by Ridley Scott, with Pedro Pascal and Paul Mescal, have finally arrived. On the occasion of CinemaCons, held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, some previews of the sequel, one of the most anticipated films of the season, were revealed. Twenty-four years following the release of the five-time Oscar winner, director Ridley Scott is back behind the camera to sign what promises to be an epic and spectacular film as much as the previous one.

The English author, also famous for having directed films of the caliber of “Alien”, “Blade Runner” and “Thelma & Louise”, also left a video message where he points out that this film: «It might be even more extraordinary than the first. It’s worth the wait.”

We don’t have to wait much longer, because “Gladiator 2” will be released in American theaters on November 22nd this year and will certainly be one of the unmissable titles of the autumn at the cinema. At the center of the plot there will be Lucius, son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus, as a connecting figure with respect to the first film: now grown up, Lucius will have the face of Paul Mescal, one of the actors most on the rise in world cinema, following his performances in the beautiful “Aftersun” by Charlotte Wells and “Strangers” by Andrew Haigh. The character played by the Irish actor will have to deal with numerous threats and in the trailer we are already starting to glimpse his fights in the arena. In the midst of numerous animals, bombings and high-adrenaline passages, the presence of Pedro Pascal also stands out in these first images, another absolute star of the operation, who became even more famous thanks to the series “The Last of Us”.

Written by David Scarpa – who had already written the recent “Napoleon” for Scott – “Gladiator 2” will however also see in the cast, among others, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi. Finally, it should be noted that despite this year is ready to blow out 87 candles, Ridley Scott has no desire to stop directing and is already working on several projects – television and film – for the next few years.
