Giulia and her sister Alessia make one last call to their dad before being fatally hit by a train

After partying all night at a nightclub in Ricionne, Giulia and Alessia, two teenage girls aged 17 and 15, called their father to let him know they were coming home soon.

The two sisters went to the station on Sunday, around 6:50 a.m., to go home. But several witnesses saw them getting dangerously close to the rails. Giulia was the first to cross before her sister joined her. “We were shouting for them to get out of there,” said a witness.

The driver of the TGV, which was traveling towards Milan, might do nothing to stop the train. The two sisters were knocked down and dragged hundreds of meters. It is not known exactly why Giulia and Alessia went on the tracks but the most likely hypothesis is that they wanted to cross the tracks.

Their father, Vittorio, is devastated: “They were my life,” he said. The mayor of Castenaso, Carlo Gubellini, gave his support to the family: “The whole community of Castenaso cares regarding parents, relatives and friends. Giulia and Alessia, you left us much too soon”.
