GISMETEO: Scientists calculate how much the Universe will expand after billions of years – Science and space

Since ancient times, people have been wrestling with the question of how big our universe is. In the 20s of the last century, the scientist E. Hubble proved that it is expanding, and today the space is closely watched by a telescope named following him. And the data from this device suggests that the universe will become twice as large in 10 billion years.

The Hubble constant, or the rate of expansion of the universe, is being studied by a team led by Nobel laureate Adam Liss.

According to the researcher, the current calculations are the fruit of the best application of the Hubble telescope, and the introduction of new techniques has made it possible to achieve results for which the telescope without modern solutions would have to spend at least another thirty years.

Scientists are convinced that observations will soon become even more accurate, and the rate of expansion of the universe will be calculated even more carefully.
