What a season finale for Michelle Gisin! The Obwalden, frustrated at having missed fourth place by 4 hundredths on Wednesday in the downhill, took third place in the super-G of the Courchevel finals, her third podium in the specialty in the World Cup.

The double Olympic medalist from Beijing (gold in combined, bronze in super-G) had regretted the day before having missed her bet on the podium in each discipline this winter, but once once more proved her sparkling form in this end of the season by signing an 8th consecutive top 10 in four different disciplines. Held back by a severe form of mononucleosis last summer, the Swiss will be a serious candidate for the general’s globe next winter if she is spared bad luck.

On the Eclipse, it was the Norwegian Ragnhild Mowinckel who was a breath ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin (2nd at 5 hundredths) and Michelle Gisin (3rd at 13 hundredths). The American, who made a very quick finish, secured a fourth overall crystal globe. Already victorious the day before in the downhill, the Colorado skier now has a 236-point lead over Petra Vlhova, with only two women’s events left to compete.
