On December 14, the Girls In Hawaii will replay their first album, From Here To There, on the stage of the Ancienne Belgique.
The exact date ? November 15, 2003. On this day, Girls In Hawaii released their very first album. Twenty years and 3 LPs laterthe group will return to this emblematic record during a concert-event at the Ancienne Belgique. Tickets will go on sale this Thursday, March 30, 11 a.m. This will be an opportunity to recreate the scenography of the first tours (including with the famous video monitors piloted by Olivier Cornil, the photographer of the cover), and to add to the titles of From Here To There, some must-haves and even one or the other new title. There is no doubt that the team will also be keen to pay tribute to their historic manager, Pierre Van Braekel, who died last summer.
The concert is part of the series Rewind, initiated by Old Belgium. The idea? Come back for a concert to key Belgian pop albums. Fact, From Here To There made a date. At the time, it made it possible to materialize what until then had largely been a fantasy: 10 years after the explosion of dEUS, the possibility of an indie rock scene on the South side of the country.
Sacred Belgians
Inspired in particular by American groups such as Grandaddy or Pavement, the Girls In Hawaii were then embodied by five boys, mostly from Braine L’Alleud – Antoine Wielemans, Denis Wielemans, Lionel Vancauwenberghe, Brice Vancauwenberghe, and Daniel Offerman. Driven by titles as unstoppable as Found In The Ground or Organeumthey will find an echo in France, Germany, Italy, and even, even more improbably, in… Flanders, bringing other groups in their wake.
We will also celebrate 20 years of the Sacred Belgians, promo banner rolled out to push this generation made in Wallifornia. This same year, the famous concert had been organized, during which the Girls In Hawaii, Ghinzu and Sharko had succeeded each other. It was already at the Old Belgium…
