Girl miraculously survives 150 hours after earthquake in Turkey

More than 150 hours following the devastating earthquake, rescuers rescued a girl from the rubble in Hatay province, creating another miracle in the earthquake disaster in Turkey.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake, along with nearly 2,000 followingshocks, created tremendous devastation, causing heavy damage to people and infrastructure in Turkey as well as Syria.

In the pain of that devastation, there have been extraordinary rescue stories.

In a latest announcement, Turkish Health Minister Fahretin Koca said that a small girl was rescued alive from the rubble more than 150 hours following the disaster.

Minister Koca posted a short video on Twitter of the girl he said was pulled from the rubble “at the 150th hour” in Hatay.

“This is the first medical intervention for our little girl, who was just rescued from the rubble at the 150th hour, at Hatay Field Hospital,” he said.

Mr. Koca added that he personally oversaw the process. “As a pediatrician, I oversaw the process. Our baby was then taken to Adana by helicopter ambulance for treatment.”

The minister added that regarding an hour following rescuing the girl, Mr. Abdullah Elali, a Syrian living in Antakya, was safely rescued. “Brother Elali was pulled from the rubble in Hatay, southern Turkey in the 151st hour,” he said.

So far, more than 150 hours following the earthquake disaster, rescuers are racing once morest time amid frigid weather to rescue people trapped under the rubble.

The death toll in the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria rose to more than 33,000 on February 12. The United Nations warns that the final number might double.

Officials and medical staff said 29,605 victims were killed in Turkey and 3,574 in Syria, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths to 33,179. AFP news.
