Van Bronckhorst Reflects on Beşiktaş Time and Looks Forward
“Leaving the position of Beşiktaş coach makes me sad and disappointed,” Giovanni van Bronckhorst shared in a recent statement.
The Dutch coach, who recently parted ways with the Istanbul powerhouse, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and a fondness for the club, city, and country.
A Passionate Welcome
“As with my previous jobs, I approached this job with passion and a desire to succeed as I was truly excited by the potential of the club. Turkish people, and especially Beşiktaş fans, welcomed me and made me feel like ‘one of them’.
“Türkiye is a country with a rich culture and the passion for football is clearly visible to everyone. I will always be grateful for that.”
Turkish Super Cup Triumph
Van Bronckhorst highlighted the exhilaration of winning the Turkish Super Cup, a moment he considers a highlight of his tenure.
“The feeling after winning the Turkish Super Cup is the one I value the most. It’s on par with some of his football achievements. The big crowd, the passion of the fans and the burning desire of my players were great. It was very satisfying for Beşiktaş to win this cup back for the first time in almost twenty years.”
A Desire for Continued Development
Expressing appreciation for the dedication of his players and staff, the former coach expressed confidence in the team’s potential had he been given more time.
“I must appreciate the hard work of my players and staff. If I was given more time, I think I could develop and strengthen a squad with great potential. Please keep up the good work, you are a great band.”
The Reality of Results-Driven Football
Van Bronckhorst acknowledged the demanding nature of modern football, where success is paramount.
“Of course football is a results business and I know the pressure that comes with the modern game. I will never hide from this, winning is everything and when it doesn’t happen it’s hard to accept.”
“Yet the future direction of any football club is not determined by just one person on the bench.
Even in a short time, I fell in love with the club, the city and the country. I convey my best wishes for the future to everyone associated with Beşiktaş.”
Looking Ahead
With heartfelt thanks to his family and friends for their unwavering support, Van Bronckhorst is eagerly anticipating the next chapter in his career.
“Finally, as always, I offer my thanks and love to my wonderful family and close friends who are always there to support me. I look forward to my next challenge when the time comes.”
